It’s never been more important to invest in human skills.

Creativity, communication, empathy, storytelling, and learning are all core human traits that make us, us.

These skills are the tools we use to slay wicked problems, and without them innovation stagnates and our most pressing challenges go unchallenged.

We are living in a technological boom time, in which we’re persuaded that the answer to all of our woes and desires is another algorithm, where convenience robs us of surprise, and we’ve forgotten the joy of doing hard things.

This isn’t to say all technology is bad. Far from it.

But it is a time to reflect on what makes us human and what makes you unique - and what parts of that we’re willing to give up.

While an AI can compile research for you - maybe it shouldn’t. While we can connect online, maybe it’s better to find the time in person. While you can get the bullet points on a subject, maybe it’s better to read the book.

If you’re solving complex problems, building collaborative teams, and trying to make a difference in the world, Brave Old Work is created for you.

“Convenience culture seduces us into imagining that we might find room for everything important by eliminating only life’s tedious tasks. But it’s a lie. You have to choose a few things, sacrifice everything else, and deal with the inevitable sense of loss that results.”
